Physical DescriptionA color poster promoting enlistment in the U.S. Coast Guard. The majority of the poster features a large color illustration of five shirtless sailors at work on the deck of a ship, loading and preparing a big gun for firing. In the upper left quadrant of the poster is a blue, ghost-like illustration showing three sailors from a bygone era preparing a ship's cannon for firing. Red, blue, and black text on the poster reads: U.S. COAST GUARD / READY THEN / READY NOW / APPLY AT NEAREST RECRUITING OFFICE. The artist's facsimile signature is written vertically in the lower left corner of the artwork: J. D. WISINSKI.
