Physical DescriptionA Portuguese language poster, titled “IRMÃOS DE ARMAS" [Brothers in Arms], promoting inter-American solidarity during World War II. The poster features a large illustration of two soldiers—one American and one Brazilian—dressed in combat uniforms. Both soldiers appear injured but are smiling in camaraderie while standing with an arm around each other. The unidentified artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower left of image.

Printed in small text along the bottom of the poster: "617588 / PUBLICADO PELO COORDENADOR DE ASSUNTOS INTERAMERICANOS, WASHINGTON, E.U. A.”
Historical NotePresident Roosevelt created the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during World War II to counter Italian and German propaganda in Latin America and promote political, economic, and cultural ties with the United States. He appointed Nelson Rockefeller as the Coordinator. This prize-winning poster, which won first place in a competition based on themes of unity, was issued by the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs.Additional Details
