Physical DescriptionA black and white poster promoting wartime discretion. The poster features a cartoon-like illustration of a solider in uniform seated cozily at a café table with a young woman to whom he is saying, “I’LL MISS YOU WHEN I LEAVE WITH THE UMPTEENTH SQUADRON FOR SO and SO LAND ON SUCH & SUCH DAY.” Peering out from beneath the tablecloth is a dachshund dog with one ear raised to listen in and a Nazi swastika band around its tail. Passing behind the table is Adolf Hitler, disguised as waiter, who is keeping an ear on the conversation at the table while carrying a tray with a beer mug from which is arising the figure of Emperor Hirohito holding the Japanese flag. Text at the top of the poster bears the message: DON’T TALK! / . . . DON'T DIVULGE INFORMATION CONCERNING TROOP MOVEMENTS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES AND ELSEWHERE. The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right of the cartoon: Yardley.
