Physical DescriptionA color World War II British propaganda poster titled “WOMEN OF THE FORCES,” issued by the Ministry of Pensions. The poster features three graphic artwork heads of women wearing British military service hats representing the WRNS (Women's Royal Naval Service), ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service), and RAF (Royal Air Force). Text below the portraits states: “Officers and 'Other Ranks' may apply for War Service Grants to help them in meeting personal liabilities and to assist their dependants . . . and Emergency Grants if illness or death of their dependants causes them unforeseen expense." Along the bottom of the poster is a blue banner with the message: “AN APPLICATION FORM EXPLAINING THESE GRANTS MAY BE OBTAINED FROM ANY POST OFFICE OR YOUR COMMANDING OFFICER.” The artist’s facsimile name is in the lower right corner of the poster: “JONES.”

Small black text printed along the bottom margin of the poster has the printing information: “PRINTED FOR H. M. STATIONERY OFFICE BY LOWE & BRYDONE PRINTERS LTD., LONDON, N.W. 10. NO. 51-3539.”

Stamped in black ink on the reverse of the poster: “BRITISH INFORMATION SERVICES / 30 Rockefeller Plaza / New York City."
