Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. Army conservation poster titled “It'll be a GREAT DAY!” The color poster features a painted illustration depicting a smiling, partially-clothed man getting dressed in front of a bedroom mirror as his black Scottie dog watches. He is selecting civilian clothing from a mismatched pile on his dresser where parts of his U.S. Army uniform are also visible. Text printed across the lower section of the illustration states: “CONSERVATION OF SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT SPEEDS VICTORY.” The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right corner of the image: “HAROLD VON SCHMIDT 1944.” Also in the lower right corner is the U.S. Army Conservation Program “SAVE” logo.
At the bottom of the poster is the name and logo of the “OFFICE OF THE QUARTERMASTER GENERAL” and the U.S. Army Conservation Program “SAVE” logo. Additional small text in the bottom margin reads: “U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE : 1944—O-602807 / ARMY CONSERVATION PROJECT NO. 103-Q-37.”
