Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. conservation poster titled “DON’T BLIND OUR PILOTS WITH SMOKE.” The red, white, and black poster features a large graphic illustration of a farm with an enormous forest fire rising from the mountains in the background. In the sky overhead, a plane is flying through the smoke from the fire.
In the lower right corner of the illustration is a miniature black and white variation of a 1943 poster featuring caricature portraits of Adolf Hitler and Hideki Tojo against the backdrop of a blazing forest fire. Text on the image reads: “OUR CARELESSNESS / Their Secret Weapon / PREVENT FOREST FIRES.”
