Physical DescriptionA brown fox fur stole made from a single complete pelt and including head, legs, and tail. The fur is a glossy brown color with lighter color hairs intermingled. The tail is tipped with white. A wire hook on a front leg and a wire loop on a back leg allow the stole to be fastened around the neck. Attached to the underside of the stole, near the head, is a black fabric tag with the manufacturer’s name: “Revillon Frères.” A second similar tag, but blank, is attached further down on the underside.
Historical NoteThis fox stole was acquired and worn by Eleanor Roosevelt. It was later owned by her daughter, Anna Roosevelt Halsted, and granddaughter, Eleanor Seagraves.
