Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. conservation poster titled “Don’t Hoard SPARE PARTS.” The color poster features the cartoon character Joe Dope, a bumbling, inept U.S. Army soldier. He is seated against a brick wall and surrounded by spare mechanical parts. Adhered to the wall behind Joe is an Ordnance Department poster depicting a disgruntled U.S. Army technician who asks, “WHO HAS THE ONE SPARE PART I NEED TO FIX MY TANK?!” The artist’s facsimile signature is at the bottom of the illustration: “CWO Will EiSNER.”
