Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. Navy conservation poster. The blue, orange, black, and white poster features a comic-like illustration of an older farming couple writing to their son. The wife is seated at a desk with a lamp and a framed photograph of their son, a Navy sailor. As she writes, her husband stands beside her and dictates: “tell him, the home folks hope the boys are enjoying all the good food we raised for 'em. / and p.s., tell him I'll whale him good if he wastes any." The artist’s facsimile signature is below the illustration: "HOTCHKISS USNR.”
