Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. Army conservation poster titled “HOW TO HANDLE A G.I. RANGE.” At the top of the orange, black, gray, and white poster is an illustration of cartoon character in the form of a kitchen range saluting and saying: “YES, SIR! / NO BURNT FOOD / NO UNDERCOOKING / NO BAKING FAILURES / MEALS ON TIME!” The center of the poster features a graphic illustration of a large cooking range overlaid by large orange instructional text dots with arrows indicating how to best use various parts of the range. Below the range is a text box titled, “TO EFFICIENTLY OPERATE COAL-BURNING KITCHEN RANGES FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS,” with 10 numbered steps.

In the lower section of the poster is the U.S. Army Conservation Program “SAVE” logo and small text that reads: “U.S. ARMY CONSERVATION PROJECT No. 125-E-30 / U. S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE : 1944—O-617339.” Distribution instructions are printed along the bottom of the poster, including, “THIS POSTER TO BE DISPLAYED IN ALL KITCHENS WHERE COAL-BURNING RANGES ARE USED.”
