Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. conservation poster titled “PREVENT FOREST FIRES!" The color poster features an artwork illustration of a man’s hand tapping out the ashes of his pipe onto the bare patch of earth beneath his booted foot. Text below the image instructs: “Put your ashes in earth.” The artist’s facsimile signature is at the bottom of the illustration: "Earle B Winslow.”

Additional small text along the bottom of the poster reads: “U. S. DEPT. AGRICULTURE, FOREST SERVICE / STATE FOREST SERVICE / U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE : 1944 — O - 567012.”
