Physical DescriptionA small World War II U.S. Army conservation poster titled “THIS EXTINGUISHER IS FOR YOUR PROTECTION / LEARN TO USE IT NOW / FOR FIRE ONLY.” The orange-red, black, and white poster provides four step-by-step illustrated instructions on how to use a Carbon Tetrachloride hand fire extinguisher. Below the illustrations are additional instructions on the proper maintenance and replacement of the extinguisher. A circular “Caution” badge in the lower right warns users to avoid breathing hazardous fumes or smoke, and to not aim the extinguisher stream directly into burning liquids.

Along the right side of the poster is the U.S. Army Conservation Program “SAVE” logo. Small text along the bottom of the poster reads: “ARMY CONSERVATION PROJECT NO. 104-E-22-D / U. S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE : 1944—O-600197 / OFFICE, CHIEF OF ENGINEERS.”
