On the reverse of the print is a printed line drawing and explanation of the 1789 plate from which the design was inspired.
Historical NoteThis print is from a portfolio of 15 silkscreen prints titled: Folk Art of Rural Pennsylvania, Selected by the Index of American Design, Pennsylvania Art Project, Works Projects Administration (MO 1956.236.1-15). The prints in the portfolio were selected, adapted, and compiled from original sources by Frances Lichten and Austin Davison II. They were printed through the courtesy of a private sponsor.
