Historical NoteThe Treasury Department and the U.S Office of Education created the Schools at War program to encourage the nation’s schoolchildren to purchase War Stamps and Bonds and conserve materials needed for the war effort.

Illustrator Irving Nurick was a logical choice for a poster dealing with teenagers and the war effort. Nurick was well-known for his ability to depict teens and young adults.
