Physical Descriptiona) A painting of the steam screw frigate, USS COLORADO, of the period just after the Civil War. It depicts a side view of the three-masted sailing ship, in open water, with some sails unfurled and steam issuing from the smokestack. An American flag flies at the stern. In the background, on either side of the ship, are two side wheel steamships, both flying the American flag, and traveling in the same direction as the COLORADO. The painting is signed and dated by artist in the lower left corner: Ivancovich Trieste / 1867.

b) The painting is framed in a 2½" gold toned, silver leaf frame that appears to be original to the painting.
