Physical DescriptionA red, white, and blue crocheted 48-star American flag. White fabric stars are glued on to the canton on both sides of the flag. Small blue, white, and red yarn loops run down the left edge of the flag.
Historical NoteThis handmade flag was sent to Franklin Roosevelt by the maker, Aurora Shuster of St. Louis, Missouri, along with a photograph of her with the flag. Mrs. Shuster wrote a biographic note on the reverse of the photograph which states that she was, "Born on April 19 in the year 1869, on a Monday morning at 5 o'clock. I'm 72 years, 2 months–27 days old."

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 28, 1942. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
