Historical NoteOn the night of May 10-11, 1941, a massive German bombing attack on London severely damaged the Palace of Westminster and destroyed the chamber of the House of Commons. This relic, fashioned from fragments of stained glass from the chamber’s shattered windows—was presented to FDR by Britain’s Ambassador to the United States. It is on display in the PREPARING FOR WAR, HOPING FOR PEACE exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.!Additional Details
