The model sits affixed to a small cradle base, which in turn is attached to a larger wooden base. A copper plaque attached to the larger base is inscribed: "FIRST ANNUAL AWARD / 1937 / NEW YORK ROD AND GUN EDITOR'S ASSOCIATION / TO / FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT / FOR THE OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE / DEVELOPMENT AND PROTECTION OF THE / NATION'S OUTDOOR RESOURCES."
