Physical DescriptionA model of the four-masted ship, WILLIAM P. FRYE. The wooden ship has a white, green and red painted hull with the name of the ship painted at both sides of the bow. There are no sails. The model is mounted inside a wood and glass case, the interior base of which is covered in blue and white painted cotton representing the sea. A paper tag, formed from a piece of White House stationery, is attached to an exterior side of the case and has a handwritten note in pencil: From / President / Office / 270.
Historical NoteThis model of the WILLIAM P. FRYE was made from a piece of teakwood from the ship. The WILLIAM P. FRYE was sunk during World War I by the German ship, PRINCE EITEL FREDRICK. This model was made by the crew of the PRINCE EITEL FREDRICK.Additional Details
