Physical DescriptionA color poster promoting U.S. Army enlistment, titled “DEFEND YOUR COUNTRY.” The poster features an illustration of Uncle Sam and a fierce-looking eagle flying beside him against a patriotic background. Uncle Sam has discarded his hat and coat on the ground and is standing in a fighting stance as he rolls up his sleeves in preparation for a fight. Text at the bottom of the illustration states: “ENLIST NOW in the UNITED STATES ARMY.” The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right corner of the artwork: “Tom Woodburn.” Printed just below the artwork: “Copyright 1941, Tom B. Woodburn.”
