Physical DescriptionA printed one dollar promissory note, No. 91. “On demand I Promise to Pay the bearer ONE DOLLAR In trade or Bankable Bills." Dated and signed in ink: Hyde Park July 14, 1837 / John Caller. The note was printed and sold by H. J. Winslow, 89 Nassau St., New York.

At the top center of the note is an engraved image of a woman, seated on shore on an anchor, with a sailing ship at sea in the background.

The reverse is blank.
Historical NoteThis promissory note was sent to Franklin D. Roosevelt on May 21, 1942 by Thomas L. Elder of Pleasant Valley, New York.

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt on June 3, 1942. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947
