Physical DescriptionA World War II-era aluminum canteen cup with a folding handle that snaps into place around the bottom of the cup when not in use. The manufacturing information is inscribed on the underside of the cup: U. S. / M.A. CO. / 1942.
Historical NoteIn January 1943, shortly after the Allied invasion of North Africa, a summit meeting between Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill was held at Casablanca, Morocco. During the trip, FDR used this canteen cup, along with a U.S. Army mess kit (see MO 1943.190.6), at a field luncheon while visiting Rabat, Morocco, to review American troops on January 21, 1943. He took the cup and mess kit back to the U.S. with him as a souvenir.

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 9, 1943. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
