Physical DescriptionA color poster featuring an illustration of a drowning man with just his head and right arm above the water, and his index finger pointed towards the viewer. White text across the top and bottom reads: SOMEONE / TALKED! The artist's facsimile signature is in the lower right corner: SIEBEL. Small text along the bottom edge of the poster reads: OWI Poster No. 18. Additional copies may be obtained upon request from the Division of Public Inquiries, Office of War Information, Washington, D. C. / U. S. Government Printing Office : 1942-O-496733.
Historical NoteThe artist, Frederick (Fritz) Siebel, served in the U.S. Army during the war. In 1942, Siebel entered this poster in a competition to create an image illustrating the need to protect sensitive information. It was later printed and distributed by the OWI.
