Physical DescriptionA Spanish language poster, titled "EL SUENO DE LOS HEROES / LA OBRA DE SUS HIJOS” [The Dream of the Heroes; the Work of their Children], promoting inter-American solidarity during World War II. The poster features a large illustration depicting men engaged in various agricultural and land-based tasks. On the right, soldiers are shown heading off to fight. The background includes a factory, battleships on open water, and military aircraft in the sky.
Visible in the clouds and smoke in the sky are portraits of historical leaders, mostly Latin American, who are identified by an image key: O'Higgins, Bolívar, Washington, Artigas, San Martin, Morazan, Marti, Bonifacio, Hidalgo, and l'Ouverture. The artist's facsimile name is in the lower left corner of the artwork: "WALTER BEACH HUMPHREY."

Historical NotePresident Roosevelt created the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during World War II to counter Italian and German propaganda in Latin America and promote political, economic, and cultural ties with the United States. He appointed Nelson Rockefeller as the Coordinator.
