Physical Description(a) A ribbon badge from the March 4, 1933 inauguration of Franklin Roosevelt and John Garner. The length of green fabric ribbon has imprinted gilt text that reads: ROOSEVELT / AND / GARNER / PRESIDENTIAL / ELECTOR / 1933. Adhered to the reverse of the ribbon is a circular paper label with the manufacturer’s information: R. HARRIS & CO. / WASHINGTON, D. C.
(b) Pinned to the top of the ribbon badge is a pinback campaign pin. The gold-colored metal pin features left-facing sculpted profiles of Franklin D. Roosevelt and John N. Garner along with their names. The manufacturer's information is stamped on the reverse of the pin: GREEN DUCK CO / CHICAGO.
Historical NoteThe design of the pin attached to this badge was evidently inspired by the 1932 campaign plaque (see MO 1941.41.28) and pin (1975.59) by artist Gutzon John Borglum.(b) Pinned to the top of the ribbon badge is a pinback campaign pin.
