Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. Army production poster titled “THE QUICKER THE BETTER!” The black and white poster features a drawn illustration of a helmeted American miner holding a newspaper with the headline, “YANKS CAPTURE KEY POSITIONS.” The miner is in conversation with an American male factory worker outfitted in an apron, cap, and goggles. The miner questions, “WHY ALL THE RUSH ON MORE METAL? WE'RE DOING PRETTY GOOD!" to which the factory worker responds, “LISTEN — THE QUICKER WE GET MORE METAL THE QUICKER WE GET THE WAR OVER!” The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right of the artwork: “ROLLIN KIRBY.”
