Physical DescriptionA small, plaster head and shoulders bust of Franklin D. Roosevelt with a gold-painted finish. He is shown wearing a suit jacket, waistcoat, shirt, and tie. Inscribed on the bottom front of the bust: ROOSEVELT. The bust rests on a shallow integrated base on the front of which is inscribed: A NEW DEAL. Inscribed on the reverse of the base: 1933.
Historical NoteFranklin Roosevelt loomed large in American popular culture. Elected to four terms as America’s president, he became a familiar presence on the radio and in newspapers, magazines, and newsreels. Inevitably, his well-known likeness appeared on products such as this small bust.
