Physical DescriptionA Franklin D. Roosevelt commemorative character mug. The small, hand painted and glazed multi-colored mug is designed as the head of Franklin D. Roosevelt. A handle is attached to the proper left side. Impressed into the back of the mug is the name: ROOSEVELT. The manufacturer's information is stamped on the underside: L&S LTD / MADE IN / ENGLAND / HAND / PAINTED.
Historical NoteFranklin Roosevelt loomed large in American popular culture. Elected to four terms as America’s president, he became a familiar presence on the radio and in newspapers, magazines, and newsreels. Inevitably, his well-known likeness appeared on products such as this character mug. It is on display in the ROOSEVELT IN POP CULTURE exhibit in the Museum’s NEW DEAL gallery.Additional Details
