Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. conservation poster titled “FOREST FIRES cause FLOODS.” The color poster features an artwork illustration of a curving river against a backdrop of mountains lit by the orange flames of a forest fire, black smoke darkening the sky. Burnt out trees line part of the riverbank as the river reflects the orange glow of the fire. In the forefront of the image, a house and its surrounding property are flooded by the rising river waters. The Red Cross symbol is superimposed over the lower left corner of the image. The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right corner of the illustration: “glenn grohe.” Text below the image reads: “HELP PREVENT DISASTERS.”
