Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. Navy conservation poster. The orange, black, and white poster features a comic-style illustration depicting a high-ranking Naval officer seated inside a trashcan. He is glaring at three worried-looking Navy sailors who are preparing to throw away trayfuls of mostly uneaten food. A Naval petty officer standing next to the trashcan leans toward the official and says, “YOU WERE RIGHT SIR! THE MEN DO SEEM A LITTLE RELUCTANT TO THROW FOOD AWAY!” The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right corner of the illustration: "Ketcham USNR.”
