Physical DescriptionA color poster with black and white photographic images, from the upper left to the lower right, of people walking. Superimposing the walkers is a large red arrow at the left of the poster with white text reading: "Every man / woman and child / is a partner" / President Roosevelt. The arrow points to a blue box at the right of the poster with black and white text that reads: IN 1942 / 60,000 / PLANES / 45,000 / TANKS / 20,000 / A.A. GUNS / 8,000,000 TONS OF SHIPS. The poster was designed by David Henry Stech. Additional small text in the bottom margin reads: U.S. Government Printing Office: 1942-O-453836 / War Production Board, Washington, D.C. - M1.
Historical NoteThe quotation featured in this poster was taken from the President’s December 9, 1941, Fireside Chat to the nation. In that speech, delivered two days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, FDR proclaimed: “We are now in this war. We are all in it—all the way. Every single man, woman, and child is a partner in the most tremendous undertaking of our American history.”
