Physical DescriptionAn original watercolor caricature of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The head and shoulders portrait, created using gray and yellow lines and shading, shows FDR turned partially to the right of the artwork page. Pince-nez glasses are perched on his nose and at his neck is a blue necktie with white stars that gradually expands out behind and around him like a cloak. The artist's signature is in the lower right of the caricature: Blas / 1941.
Historical NoteThis caricature was sent to Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942 by Spruille Braden, the U.S. Ambassador to Cuba. It had been presented to Braden as a farewell gift when he left Bogata on the completion of his ambassadorship to Colombia.
Additional Details
Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 9, 1943. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
