Physical DescriptionA detachable swinging cradle on a wicker stand. The cradle and stand are both made of a wicker-wrapped wood base and the cradle has woven sides. A wicker crown rises from the head of the stand allowing for a fabric canopy (MO 1947.93.328.7) to fall over the bassinet.
Historical NoteSara Delano Roosevelt used this wicker swinging cradle bassinet for her newborn son, Franklin. It is on display, with reproduction bedding, in the A PRIVILEGED YOUTH exhibit in the Museum’s FOUNDATIONS OF A PUBLIC LIFE gallery.Additional Details
