Physical DescriptionA small model of the three-masted clipper ship, ROMANCE. The wood ship has a green and brown painted hull with furled sails, and an American flag flying from the stern. The model is affixed to a stained wood base with the name of the ship on one corner: ROMANCE.
Historical NotePresident Roosevelt once displayed this model in the White House Oval Study. This may be a model of the clipper ship, ROMANCE OF THE SEA, built in East Boston by Donald McKay in 1853.Additional Details
