Physical DescriptionA Lowestoft coffee cup with handle. The cup is trimmed with a blue and gilt design around the inside and outside of the lip. Also trimmed with initials G.C. [George Clinton] in a hand-painted circle of blue and gold. There is no maker's mark.
Historical NoteThis Lowestoft coffee cup once belonged to George Clinton (July 26, 1739 – April 20, 1812), the first Governor of New York State. The cup was presented to the Roosevelt Library on October 19, 1942, by Miss Cornelia Livingston Clarkson of Tivoli, New York. It is on display in FDR'S PRIVATE STUDY in the Permanent Exhibit.
