Physical DescriptionA print of the Unfinished Portrait, a watercolor portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt, head and bust. It features a forward facing FDR wearing a naval boat cloak over a suit jacket. The head is the most completed part of the portrait while the rest is only partially sketched in. The artist's original ink signature is in the lower right: Elizabeth Shoumatoff. The print is copyrighted by the Franklin D. Roosevelt Warm Springs Commission. It is glazed and framed in black and gold frame.
Historical NoteElizabeth Shoumatoff never completed the watercolor portrait of President Roosevelt that she was working on at the time of his death on April 12, 1945. The unfinished painting is in the collection of the Little White House State Historic Site in Warm Springs, Georgia.
