Physical DescriptionA small, sterling silver ashtray with scalloped edge. The maker's mark is on the underside and indicates the piece was made in the twentieth century: GORHAM / STERLING / 85.
Historical NoteOne of three identical sterling silver ashtrays (MO 1943.148.4-6) made by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. They were presented to President Roosevelt by his secretary, Grace Tully. The ashtrays are on display in FDR'S PRIVATE STUDY in the Permanent Exhibit.

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
