Physical Descriptiona) A cigarette box with a painted cover image on porcelain tile of a swordfish jumping out of the water. The artist's signature is below the image: Reinbold. The box is covered with gold-trimmed blue leather. The interior of the box is lined with unstained wood and has two compartments.
b) Inside the box is a pack of Peterson's Cigarettes with nineteen cigarettes in the package.
Historical NoteThis box was sent to President Roosevelt by J. E. Ankus on June 23, 1941. Ankus was the parent of a polio patient admitted to the Warm Springs, Georgia polio rehabilitation center established by FDR. The box is on display in FDR'S PRIVATE STUDY in the Permanent Exhibit.b) Inside the box is a pack of Peterson's Cigarettes with nineteen cigarettes in the package.

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
