Physical DescriptionA three-masted, square-rigged model of the screw sloop-of-war, USS HARTFORD. The wooden ship has a stained wood and black-painted hull with white trim. The masts have no sails, and a single smokestack is on the deck. The ship also includes rowboats, metal anchors and cannons, and a gilt eagle at the stern. The model rests on a wooden cradle stand.
Historical NoteThis model was presented to President Roosevelt by Lieutenant Commander James A. Farrell, Jr., USNR, of New York City on November 3, 1944.

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt on November 15, 1944. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
