Historical NoteThis watercolor was created for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) Index of American Design by the Maine Art Project, Federal Art Project, Works Progress Administration. It depicts a medallion from the ship, GENERAL MCCLELLAN, built in 1862. General George B. McClellan (1826-1885) commanded the U.S. Army of the Potomac from 1861-1862.
