Physical DescriptionAn original watercolor painting of a ship's carved representation of the seal of the State of Maine. It shows two male figures -- one with an anchor and the other with a bundle of wheat -- standing with a scene of Maine between them. Written on a banner above the figures is: DIRICO.
Historical NoteThis watercolor was created for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) Index of American Design by the Maine Art Project, Federal Art Project, Works Progress Administration. It depicts a carving from the paddle wheeler, STATE OF MAINE, built in Bath, Maine in 1882.
