Physical DescriptionA pipe holder consisting of two sets of half circles with flat bottoms, arranged horizontally and linked together. A wider section (1 5/8" wide) on one end of the holder is designed to hold the bowl of a pipe, and a narrower section (7/8" wide) on the other end to hold the stem. The maker's name is inscribed on the underside: A. Berge.
Historical NoteIt is not known if this pipe holder, made by Val-Kill forge metalsmith Arnold Berge, was created during or after Val-Kill Industries was dissolved in 1938. Berge continued to make the same pewter pieces, under his name, after the business was dissolved.
