Physical DescriptionA button and ribbon memento from the January 20, 1941 inauguration of Franklin Roosevelt and Henry Wallace.
At the center of the round pinback button, on a black background, are oval, black and white halftone photographic images of FDR (left) and Wallace (right) with their names below: ROOSEVELT / WALLACE. The button is edged with a red, white, and blue stars and stripes border.
Attached to the back of the button are three lengths of ribbon in red, white and blue, and blue that hang down below the button. Text imprinted on the white and blue ribbon reads: ROOSEVELT & WALLACE / INAUGURATION / JAN. 20, 1941. On the reverse of the red ribbon, information stamped in ink reads, “SAMUEL HOFFMAN / Dealer Presidential Material / GLADSTONE HOTEL / PHILADELPHIA 7, PENNA.," along with a small round sticker on which "$17" has been written in ink.
Also suspended from the back of the button, and over the three ribbons, is a small grayish-white plastic donkey hanging from a pink cord.
