Physical Description1) A rectangular wood pen tray covered with brown and black leather and decorated with gold tooling. A protective plastic layer lines the bottom of the tray. The maker’s name is stamped in gold on the underside of the tray: “C.P. LEATHERCRAFTS / NEW YORK.” The pen tray is accompanied by the following items that were at one time stored in it:
2) An oversized blue and gold ballpoint pen (12" long).
3) A gray Scripto mechanical pencil with “U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES” stamped into it.
4) A black and silver ballpoint pen with "AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE UNITED NATIONS” printed on it. No maker given.
5) A cream-colored Hollywood ballpoint pen
6) A cream-colored Stik mechanical pencil with magnet.
7) A black and red Venus Velvet ballpoint pen.
8) A red Scripto mechanical pencil.
9) A pink and silver Fisher ballpoint pen with "GiGi" (referencing the 1958 movie) printed on it.
10) A gray and maroon pencil with "FLY BEA SILVER WING” printed on it.
11) Unidentified curved metal piece, possibly some sort of handle.
Historical NoteThis pen tray and the writing instruments in it were used on the desk in Eleanor Roosevelt's bedroom in her 74th Street apartment in New York City.2) An oversized blue and gold ballpoint pen (12" long).
