Physical DescriptionA scale model of the aircraft carrier, USS CASABLANCA (CVE-55). The wooden ship has a gray painted wood hull. The model is mounted to wood base with an attached protective acrylic bonnet.
Historical NoteThis model was presented to President Roosevelt by Henry Kaiser of the Kaiser Shipbuilding Company (which built the USS CASABLANCA) on March 18, 1943. The CASABLANCA (originally named the USS ALAZON BAY) was sponsored by Eleanor Roosevelt at its launching on April 5, 1943.

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt on April 8, 1943. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
