Physical DescriptionA scale model of a Landing Craft, Vehicle, and Personnel Boat (LCVP) boat. The dark gray plastic and wood boat has a drop-down door at the stern and a metal crank that opens and closes the door. Rope trim encircles the hull. The model rests on a transparent plastic cradle stand.
Historical NoteThese boats, known as Higgins Boats, were manufactured in large numbers during World War II by Higgins Industries of Louisiana. This model was presented to President Roosevelt by Andrew J. Higgins, the founder and owner of Higgins Industries, on October 6, 1943.
