Physical DescriptionA poster promoting inter-American solidarity during World War II. The poster features a large color cartoon illustration of a Mexican revolutionary, complete with a sombrero and gun belt, who is flexing his muscle at the smaller, cowering figures of Adolf Hitler and three Nazi officers. A partial map of the Americas is illustrated in the background. The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right corner: “ARIAS BERNAL.”

Printed in small Spanish text in the bottom left corner of the poster: "Publicado por El Coordinador de Asuntos Interamericanos, Washington, E. U. A.”
Historical NotePresident Roosevelt created the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during World War II to counter Italian and German propaganda in Latin America and promote political, economic, and cultural ties with the United States. He appointed Nelson Rockefeller as the Coordinator. This prize-winning poster, which won first place in a competition based on themes of unity, was issued by the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs.Additional Details
