Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. Army conservation poster. The brown, white, and black poster features a comic illustration depicting a worried-looking Army soldier digging through a large bag full of torn and worn clothing. He holds up a holey sock and receives a disapproving glare from another soldier bending over to inspect his actions. A pair of boots with a tag marked “SALVAGE,” a tube of toothpaste, a razor, a shaving brush, and a toothbrush lay on the ground in front of the bag. Text on the illustration states: “GET TO THE BOTTOM OF IT! INSPECT FOR NEGLECT.”
In the lower left of the poster is the U.S. Army Conservation Program “SAVE” logo. Small text along the bottom margin reads: “ARMY CONSERVATION PROJECT NO. 130-Q-42 / U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE : 1945—O-628175.
