Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. conservation poster titled “WHEN YOU’RE FIGHTING FIRES . . . you’re NOT logging!” The black, white, and red poster features a large black and white photographic image of men fighting a forest fire on a wooded hill. Text below the image states: “HELP ON THE HOME FRONT TO WIN THE WAR / KEEP PRODUCTION UP / PREVENT FOREST FIRES.”
In the lower left quadrant of the poster is a miniature black and white variation of a 1943 poster featuring caricature portraits of Adolf Hitler and Hideki Tojo against the backdrop of a blazing forest fire. Text on the image reads: “OUR CARELESSNESS / Their Secret Weapon / PREVENT FOREST FIRES.”
