Physical DescriptionAn oval-shaped metal dog tag. The gray, horizontally-oblong tag has a hole on both ends, and the following text engraved on the surface: JOHN / ASPINWALL / ROOSEVELT / 76-617 / T-12-41 P / USNR A. The reverse is blank.
Historical NoteThis U.S. Navy dog tag was used by John Aspinwall Roosevelt during World War II. John was Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt’s youngest child. The dog tag is on display in the LEADING BY EXAMPLE exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.
